Connecticut Ravens Football

The Brooklyn Bengals came to Bridgeport to face the Ravens with victory on their mind. The Ravens and Bengals met earlier in the year and an undermanned Ravens team pulled out the victory in the last minutes. This game would prove to be just as hard fought. The full strength Ravens were held in check offensively by the Bengals defense. The Ravens entered the Bengals red zone 3 times with no points to show for it. The Ravens defense kept the Bengals in check for 3 1/2 quarters lead by leading tackler Dwight DeMartino. With 8 minutes to go in the fourth quarter the Bengals mounted a drive that resulted in the go ahead TD. The 2 point conversion was stopped and the Bengals lead 6-0. The Ravens were then stopped on downs but the Bengals were unable to run out the clock as the Ravens made a crucial 4th down stop at the Raven 45 yard line. With the game on the line the Offense clicked when it had to. WR Ricky Rivera caught a 4th down pass from WR Jeff Cupe to keep the drive alive and bring the ball to the Bengals 30. The Bengals defense then dug in and brought the game down to its final play with 7 seconds remaining. with the ravens just under 3 yards away QB Corey Sullavan found Jeff Cupe for the game tie as time ran out. After penalties brought the ball to the 1 foot line for the conversion the Ravens elected to run it in and were stopped by one last Bengals stand. Overtime was shootout rules and the Ravens had the ball 1st. From the Bengals 25 it was RBs Nick Susko and Andrew Younger carrying the load with the drive ending with a Younger 3 yard td. The Ravens again elected to go for 2 and Ricky Rivera pulled in Sullivans pass to make it 14-6. It was now the bengals turn however they were now up against a raven Defense looking to seal the win. After the Bengals made a 1st down it was all defense as as the remaining plays were all for negative yards as the Ravens sealed the improbable win.
